Float downriver by canoe and enjoy both the pace and the peace of the river and its surrounding rainforest. The brilliant green of the river, the flashing blues of Costa Rica's famous morpho butterflies and the sight of numerous brightly colored birds make this an unforgettable trip. The sounds of wrens singing in duet, frogs calling and monkeys chattering fill the air, while we scan the canopy, river and quiet farmland to seek basking iguanas and the rich diversity of wildlife along the Rio Peñas Blancas. For the next 3 hours you will float downriver, enjoying the vast array of life surrounding the river, benefiting from the expertise of your guide in all areas of flora and fauna. Caño Negro full by canoe – Day Tour ü We return to La Fortuna by 06:00pm. ü Included: Typical breakfast and lunch in the restaurant “el caiman”, fruits and entrance fee to the refuge are included. $130 per person (Children are welcome)

The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge and the Rio Frio are some of the most biologically diverse wetland areas in Costa Rica and some of the richest wildlife viewing and birding sites on this continent. This trip is a great variation from the normal Cano Negro day trip. Explore the refuge by canoe, and paddle our canoes down the Rio Frio or Rio Los Patos. The tour starts at 06:00am with a two-hour drive to just inside the national refuge, from where we paddle. If you only have one day and want to see a wide range of wildlife, this trip is a favorite. This tour is great for experiencing the beautiful flora and fauna native to Costa Rica, while learning and/or using basic kayak techniques, along the Rio Arenal. One can choose to adventure down the river solo or with a partner in a tandem inflatable kayak.
