Extended Southern Package Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1
Today we start off an awesome trip. After getting through the airport, we will meet you outside and give your personal welcome package and then direct you to your private transfer to your hotel the Aurola Holiday Inn. This hotel is located in the center of San Jose. Get ready to start your nature adventure.
Day 2
Now we wake up early and start off the day with a shuttle to a very famous part of the country Arenal. This is where you will find the Arenal Volcano. Once you arrive Check into the Los Lagos Resort. The Arenal Volcano National Park spans across almost 30,000 acres of rainforest and is a great place to see the volcano up close from various trails. Choose from several hiking trails that leave from the entrance of the park, some only taking 30 minutes, some taking a couple of hours. Solo hikes on the trails are permitted but you can also easily arrange guided hikes in La Fortuna. Additionally, you can relax in the natural hot springs, rappel down waterfalls of simply swim in them, explore the hanging bridges, go white-water rafting on the river, … Or like tomorrow, take a stunning canopy tour.
Day 3
Today is going to be fun with the Sky Trek & Tram Tours. These tours are both different but equally fun and exhilarating. The Sky Trek brings you up into the canopy to experience excellent fun zip lining. If you haven’t ever done it before, don’t be afraid as it is some of the most fun you will ever have. The Tram Tour takes you on a slow ride up through the jungle canopy and is the perfect ride for view all the surroundings and wildlife inhabiting the area around the active volcano.
Day 4
On day four, we will take another shuttle this time to Manuel Antonio. Here you will stay at the Karahé Beach Hotel.
Day 5
On day five we will take you through the Manuel Antonio National Park. This Park contains a large array of flora and fauna and the beaches of this area are probably the best of all Costa Rica. It may be Costa Rica’s smallest national park, but it has so much to offer in terms of natural beauty and fauna. Go hiking on the trails through the lush jungle and spot sloths, scarlet macaws, monkeys such as howler monkeys, toucans, and many more! The park may be small, but it is certainly packed with all kinds of wildlife just ready to be scratched off your exotic species bucket list.
Day 6
Enjoy a free day in Manuel Antonio. Head to the stunning beaches or take a surfing lesson. Go parasailing, ziplining, horseback riding, whatever you like!
Day 7
Now it is time to head to the next destination in the beautiful Osa Peninsula in the South Pacific. Once you are there, you can enjoy the different tours in this stunning area. Take a transfer to the Sierpe and then head to Drake Bay. You will be staying at Rancho Corcovado.
Day 8
Your first tour in Osa will be Caño Island. Hop onto the boat and keep your eyes open for whales and dolphins! Cano Island is a paradise for adventurers above as well as under water. Snorkeling and scuba diving are the most popular activities at the island. Cano Islas is surrounded by coral reefs and rock formations which makes it a hotspot for spotting marine life. Divers can expect to see manta rays, mobula rays, whale sharks, reef sharks like the white-tipped reef sharks, moorish idols, dolphins, moray eels, turtles, and so on.
Day 9
But this is where you trip to Costa Rica gets adventurous indeed. Get ready for your Corcovado Tour, a national park known for containing the highest level of biodiversity in the world. The flora and fauna you will encounter here are simply incomparable with what you might see elsewhere. Would you like to know to which degree exactly? Okay here we go … Within Corcovado you can find 13 major ecosystems and inhabiting those are all four monkey species, all four sea turtle species and over 40 frog species. In addition, there are 100 butterfly species, 10,000 insect species, several types of snakes, over 25 lizard species and all six feline species. There are tapirs, crocodiles, peccaries and over 400 bird species!
Day 10
San Gerardo de Dota is a one of a kind place for the avid birder. You will feel like you are in a totally different world because of the unique terrain and sights. Check into Savegre lodge and recover from the Osa adventure. Tomorrow you will get a chance to spot some of the stunning birds that grace this area.
Day 11
You will go on the famous quetzal tour. Have your binoculars at hand and be ready to spot this famous and very elusive bird. Los Quetzales National Park is home to three different kinds of rainforests and 14 ecosystems! It is the ideal place for a birding vacation in Costa Rica. During your walk, you’ll see the Resplendent Quetzal, of course, in addition to woodpeckers, trogons, macaws and different species of hummingbirds. The biodiverse area is also home to sloths, felines and some of the most astonishing flora and fauna in Costa Rica. Tropical birding has never been so exciting!
Day 12
Now it is time to head back to San Jose. You will be staying at the Hampton Inn very close to the airport and not far from many different places to eat.
