Everything’s also recycled and repurposed at Rancho Margot; staff uses aerobic compost ovens to heat water and biogas to cook meals. They even make their laundry detergent and soap from recycled cooking oil.
Daily Yoga & Meditation
Presently, perched above the Cano Negro River is the lodge’s Center for Natural Living. An open-air pavilion where yoga classes are offered free of charge twice daily. Guests can enjoy doing their sun salutations in absolute harmony with the environment. The center overlooks the lush rainforest valleys beneath the shadow of Arenal Volcano. The spacious area comfortably accommodates up to 30 people and is an excellent spot to practice medication as well. Health and wellness groups sometimes host retreats at this eco-lodge. This also features a large deck that peers out over the lake and surrounding countryside.

Nestled among the green hills are 17 deluxe bungalows, each fashioned with handcrafted furniture that was made at the Ranch using sustainable materials. Enjoy too, the views of the forest from your wrap-around terrace, and listen for the calls of howler monkeys, which are frequent visitors to the property. Spanning more than 400 acres, Rancho Margot also features on-site nature trails, medicinal plant gardens, two natural rock pools that are fed by pure spring waters and an outdoor playground replete with swings, slides and a teeter-totter.

Whether you’re a novice rider or an expert. You’ll love the variety of horseback excursions that depart from the lodge’s stables. By all means, take a leisurely tour around picturesque Lake Arenal, where your naturalist guide will point out native flora and fauna, or go for a five-hour tour that includes a trek to an impressive waterfall. The staff can also arrange tours to all the local hotspots, including Chato Volcano, Arenal Volcano National Park and a jeep/boat/jeep trip to the cloud forest town of Monteverde.
