Drake Bay is 12 miles away from Corcovado National Park, where the last lowland pacific-coast tropical rainforests thrive. Different nature tours include zip lines, scuba diving, dolphin and whale watching. Also, sports fishing, sea kayaking, waterfall hikes and more. Del Caño Island, just off the coast of Drake Bay, is world-famous for scuba diving and snorkeling. Here you will see great submerged marine life. The island, used in ancient times as an Indian cemetery, does not have as much diversity in wildlife. The mainland but its rich marine life makes up for it.
Caño Island contains a great abundance of marine wildlife offering the perfect location for your next snorkeling adventure. Explore the waters and spot moray eels, tuna, parrotfish, puffers, and many more colorful creatures! Perhaps you will even get to see sea turtles, rays and dolphins! Combine watching aquatic wildlife with a touch of history and dive to the pre-Colombian artifacts offering a glimpse of Costa Rica’s indigenous past.
