Baird’s tapirs, jaguars, pumas, macaws, toucans, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, capuchin monkeys, two-toed and three-toed sloths, agoutis, giant anteaters, coatimundis, peccaries (wild pigs), hummingbirds, black hawks, spectacled owls, 4 species of turtles (green, Ridley, hawksbill and leatherback), crocodiles, snakes, lizards, golden-orb spiders, numerous types of butterflies, and various insects are calling Corcovado their home and the list goes on!
Be prepared for a wet landing at San Pedrillo ranger station. The trails snake along pristine beaches into a deep rainforest. Your guide will lead you to magnificent waterfalls and swimming holes! Usually, two hikes separated by a picnic lunch break are part of this tour. The first one in the morning is approximately three and half hours long. Pointing out various wildlife to you, your guide will explain to you the different habitats and answer all your questions. The afternoon hike is normally a bit shorter featuring an ascent to a waterfall, where you will be able to take a refreshing swim!
During the entire tour, please take CAUTION while staying on the trails and listening to your guides! Always be aware of your surroundings! It is not recommended to go behind the waterfall.
