Hotel Heliconia sits in Monteverde between the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and the Santa Elena Reserve, with 4 hectares of gardens around it. From the grounds you look over the cloud forest on one side and down to the Gulf of Nicoya on the other.

It was one of the early lodges in Monteverde, and it suits families and couples who want a garden setting and plenty of room types to choose from.

The Superior Room sits in the cloud forest setting, a good choice for couples. For families there are the King Family Room, the Family Room and the Family Suite, in ascending order of space.

If you want the view, ask for the Queen Gulf View Room or the King Gulf View Room, both facing the Gulf of Nicoya.

On the property

The Red Frog Restaurant is the hotel's dining room. There is a spa and a Jacuzzi for the cool evenings, and the front desk organises tours and activities in the area.

The gardens are the heart of the place: fresh mountain air, the sound of the forest and plenty of birds.

Location and getting there

Heliconia is in Monteverde, between the Monteverde and Santa Elena reserves. Liberia airport is about 2.5 hours away by road. From here we arrange naturalist walks in the reserves, hanging bridges, a coffee tour or a night walk, each with a driver.
