Osa Peninsula contains 2.5% of the entire world’s biodiversity. National Geographic perceived that as well and named Osa Peninsula “the most biologically intense place on earth”. Close by you find the remarkable Corcovado National Park, the Piedras Blancas National Park, the Terraba Sierpe wetland area and Puerto Jiménez. Furthermore you are able to observe marine wildlife in Golfo Dulce with its deep and calm waters. Especially noteworthy is the abundance of species. It hosts over 400 species of birds, 140 different mammals and 323 endemic species of plants and vertebrates. To see a part of it, you just need to visit Osa Verde’s botanical gardens. Nearly 15 kilometers of biking and hiking paths and trails snake around the property. Therefore you can spend your days exploring, birding, photographing and learning about the lush nature. In the evenings enjoy the breathtaking views from your cabin. As a result fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean and the jungle.
Immerse yourself completely in various conservation projects, such as implemented restoration, rewilding, biodiversity monitoring and sea turtle conservation. Finca Osa Verde, their wildlife-friendly farm, invites locals and visitors to learn about farming sustainably while creating vital habitat for the surrounding wildlife. Just down the road from Osa Verde Biolodge and Finca Osa, their Biostation hosts a lot of visitors, researchers, volunteers and students all year round. Correspondingly their main point is to increase awareness of the Osa’s importance. To guarantee a healthy thriving wildlife population, a team of dedicated scientists and researchers lives and works on site. You can join this team and go beyond ecotourism on your Osa Verde stay. Release baby sea turtles into the ocean and add to the returning forest by planting a tree. You can even plant and harvest food and join the citizen science programs and help collect valuable scientific data.
Truly committed to sustainable tourism in Costa Rica, Osa Verde Biolodge is powering the property entirely by hydro and solar sources. Additionally, natural springs provide water to the lodge. It was built largely from fallen trees on the property and other local materials. To recreate a robust forest, where once a cattle farm was located, they planted over 40,000 native trees. This wildlife-friendly landscaping attracts birds, mammals, and insects, which are playing an important role in pollinating. The Osa Verde Finca offers you a true “farm-to-table” experience. To conclude the perfect stay, harvest your own meal’s ingredients on their farm. Growing a variety of local tropical fruits and vegetables without the use of chemicals, the restaurant at Osa Verde BioLodge fully commits to the environment and your health. Guests enjoy 3 delicious and nutritious meals a day – all served with an incredible view.
