You decided on a Costa Rica Vacation! Great! But now you probably face the problem of deciding which places to visit, simply because you want to see them all. For the traveler with a little bit of extra time who wants to scratch the finest Costa Rica destinations off their list, we have devised the Extended Costa Rica Highlights Package. From the Caribbean Coast to the northern zones, Guanacaste, the Central Pacific all the way to the fabled Osa Peninsula. This 21 day trip will introduce you to the best Costa Rica has to offer!
Today’s the day to start off on your amazing Costa Rica adventure tour. We will meet you personally at the airport with a custom welcome package. Then we direct you to the private transfer and you are on your way to the first hotel. Stay at Aurola Holiday Inn, one of downtown San Jose’s most friendly centrally-located hotels, with a beautiful view of Morazán Park and the National Museum.
Now it is time for your shuttle to the Caribbean side of Costa Rica and the town of Puerto Viejo. Here you will stay at the Villas del Caribe. Villas del Caribe caters to those that love to relax and put their feet up after a full day of travels. The Caribbean Coast is market by a completely different influence than the rest of the country. Here you will get a chance to experience the Afro-Caribbean culture, a reggae like vibe mixed with the Tico Pura Vida. Go out and enjoy some of it!
On day three you’re in for a treat as we take you to the Jaguar Rescue Center, Chocolate Lady & Waterfall. This trip combines three of our most popular activities: a visit to an Animal Sanctuary and Rescue Centre. Then a visit to an indigenous family that shows you how they make chocolate right from the Cacao trees in their yard and a visit to a local waterfall and swimming hole. The rescue center houses and rehabilitates wildlife that has been wounded, orphaned or even confiscated. See sloths, monkeys, birds and many other species of animals! Learn to make chocolate with the family indigenous to this area of Costa Rica and take a relaxing dive into a waterfall. Perfect day!
On day 4, you will take the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge Tour where you will find many wild inhabitants of the tropical rain forest. These include toucans, monkeys, sloths, caimans and many more.
Day 5 – 6
Now we take you all the way north on the Caribbean side to stay at the Mawamba Lodge in Tortuguero. The lodge is specially designed for the complete enjoyment of the natural surroundings Tortuguero National Park has to offer. The hotel is situated on a narrow strip of land between the Caribbean Sea and the Tortuguero Lagoon. Later on, experience a boat tour through the canals of Tortuguero. This tour is will introduce you to the diversity of flora and fauna in this region. Be prepared to see sea turtles, crocodiles, caimans and many species of birds.
Take another shuttle transfer all the way to the stunning and iconic Arenal volcano, one of Costa Rica’s active volcanoes, and stay at Los Lagos. Make sure enjoy the beautiful scenery along the way! Sit back and enjoy yourself. They pull out all the stops for you at this luxurious hotel.
Arenal is famous for many things. Hot springs, al Fortuna, the La Fortuna Waterfall, Arenal lake, hanging bridges, but also the canopy tour. The Sky Trek & Tram Tour are two thrilling tours sure to entice the inner child to come out and play. The views you get from atop the zip line leave you breathless and if that doesn’t, maybe the speedy zip down through the canopy will. On the Sky trek tour you can experience something a little more relaxed. Ride through the rainforest observing everything the eye can see! From wildlife to lush jungle.
Day 9 -10:
Take a rafting connection to the Rio Tenorio and arrive at the isolated rustic Guanacaste back roads. From here you will take a rugged, 4×4 ride to the river put-in at the bridge over the Río Tenorio. Experience the rapid of a strong river and have fun as the guide take you through the most fun part of the trip. At the end of the white-water rafting tour, you will be taken to stay at Tamarindo Diriá Hotel.
On day eleven you have an adventure pass to experience it all! Diamante’s Adventure Pass gives you the opportunity to experience everything Diamante has to offer and includes a free welcome drink and lunch. You can meet the two-toed sloth called Lucy and if your canopy tour in Arenal wasn’t enough, you can take the superman Zipline Tour with ocean views!
Day 12 – 13
It’s time to take another shuttle transfer and this time to the famous Manuel Antonio. Once there you will stay at Costa Verde, a beautiful hotel situated on the coastal rainforest overlooking the Pacific beaches of Manuel Antonio National Park.
Day 14 – 15:
Take your time through the next day to sit back and enjoy your time in Manuel Antonio. Take a guided tour through the park and explore its biodiversity. Spot sloths, monkeys, coatis and many more wildlife species. Manuel Antonio may be the smallest park in Costa Rica, but it is simply bursting with life. Later on, you will take a luxury cruise on the Catamaran Island Adventure!
Day 16 is here! Take a shuttle to Sierpe and from there, hop on the Boat Shuttle from Sierpe or take the Domestic flight from Drake Bay Airport to Rancho Corcovado.
The Rainforest and ocean activities bring include a variety of tours like Caño Island, horseback riding, snorkeling, diving, ocean-mangrove boating trips, dolphin and whale watching. Hotel Rancho Corcovado is an ideal vacation for people who enjoy the adventure in nature and want to be a part of conservation.
Take a tour of the Caño Island Biological Reserve about 15 km from the Osa Peninsula. The border of the island has white sandy beaches. The well-protected inshore coral reefs make this island one of the best spots in Costa Rica for scuba diving and snorkeling. You may see fish, turtles, manta rays, dolphins and whales to name just a few. The island also has some walking trails for you to enjoy.
Day 18, take you on a Tour to Corcovado National Park hike the trails Madrigal, Cementerio, Paraíso y El Barco. The Corcovado park is a magical place where you are sure to see all kinds of wildlife. Corcovado is a national park known for containing the highest level of biodiversity in the world. The flora and fauna you will encounter here are simply incomparable with what you might see elsewhere. Would you like to know to which degree exactly? Okay here we go … Within Corcovado you can find 13 major ecosystems and inhabiting those are all four monkey species, all four sea turtle species and over 40 frog species. In addition, there are 100 butterfly species, 10,000 insect species, several types of snakes, over 25 lizard species and all six feline species. There are tapirs, crocodiles, peccaries and over 400 bird species! Excited yet?
It is time to take a Boat Shuttle to Sierpe or a Domestic flight from Drake Bay Airport to your next destination and stay at Trogon Lodge, located in San Gerardo de Dota. Trogon lodge is a great place for the avid birder. San Gerardo de Dota is located at the bottom of the Talamanca Mountain Range in the Southern Costa Rica. With an altitude of 2200 meters, San Gerardo de Dota has fresh and clean air and us surrounded by lush green rainforest with incredible biodiversity.
Get ready for the Quetzal Bird Tour! Los Quetzales National Park is home to three different kinds of rainforests and 14 ecosystems! It is the ideal place for a birding vacation in Costa Rica. You’ll see the Resplendent Quetzal, of course, in addition to woodpeckers, trogons, macaws and different species of hummingbirds. The biodiverse area is also home to sloths, felines and some of the most astonishing flora and fauna in Costa Rica.
