Day by Day Itinerary
This Relocation Tour in the Central Valley with an extended stay at Punta Leona will allow you to get valuable insights into the process of relocating to Costa Rica. Year-round spring-like climate, fertile volcanic soil, coffee plantations, and Costa Rica’s capital San José can be found in this region. Therefore, the Central Valley is the perfect place to have your relocation/retirement tour. And your extended stay in Punta Leona will round off your whole experience leaving you filled with information and relaxation.
Day 1; Wednesday:
Meet our My Costa Rica representative at San José International Airport and drive to the Auténtico Hotel. Your Relocation Tour in the Central Valley starts!
Day 2; Thursday:
After breakfast at 8:00 am, you will participate in an informative seminar at the Auténtico Hotel with the Association of Residence in Costa Rica (ARCR). Various speakers from lawyers, and linguists, to people who have moved to Costa Rica themselves, will inform you about real estate, moving to Costa Rica, residency, language, and insurance while sharing their experiences with you. You will be able to make new friends and build up a network of valuable contacts. The seminar will end at 3:00 pm and you will be able to enjoy a buffet lunch in between. After it is over, you will have a free evening to let all the new gained information set.
Day 3; Friday:
Today you will attend your second day of the seminar. Receive the remaining information of your Costa Rican experts and talk about all your questions. Christopher Howard, your retirement expert and tour guide will be there during your entire experience to give you honest recommendations and background information.
Day 4; Saturday:
On your fourth day, you will be able to discover more of Costa Rica’s Central Valley and San José during a thorough tour with Christopher. See where the Americans reside, observe malls, hospitals, parks, national monuments, and supermarkets. You will also get to visit the neighborhoods of Los Yoses, Barrio Escalante, Sabana Norte, and Rohrmoser. Afterward, Christopher will show you the towns of Santa Ana, Escazu, Heredia, Ciudad Cariari, and San Antonio de Belén. Depending on availability you will be able to see some samples of homes along the way. Highlights of this day are probably the visit to an outdoor farmer’s market, a mini 101 Spanish lesson, and a lunch with a view!
Day 5; Sunday:
After a strengthening breakfast at the hotel, departure at 7:30 for your final tour. The second part of this tour will focus more on the rural setting of the Central Valley. Drive up to Atenas, a beautiful mountain town considered to have the “best climate” in the world. Continue to Grecia, know as “the cleanest city” in Costa Rica set amidst spectacular landscapes! Your last stop will be in the country’s second largest city Alajuela. Today you will not only enjoy a typical lunch at a local restaurant and visit a gift shop displaying incredible hand-crafted souvenirs, you will also be able to talk to some people who have moved to Costa Rica in the past. Participate in a final question and answers session before returning to the hotel.
Day 6; Monday:
After all that new information you received over the past few days, you deserve a little beach time in Punta Leona now! Approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes away from San José, you will be able to let all the new-won insights set.
Day 7; Tuesday:
Enjoy your last full day at the beach!
Day 8; Wednesday:
Head back to San José and have a great flight back home!
