The Luna Lodge offers its guests three different types of accommodation: the Bungalows, the Hacienda Rooms and the tents. All of the room types have their own perks, but what they all have in common is to guarantee you an unforgettable stay! Imagine waking up in one of the tents to an one-of-a-kind view over the tropical rainforest. Or choose to stay in one of the glamorous bungalows, with your own private bathroom with a bathtub! With staying at Luna Lodge you did not only choose a comfortable and exclusive Lodge but also the incredible and remote location of Carate!
Carate is one of the most remote locations in Costa Rica. It is situated in the south of the Osa peninsula, right next to the Corcovado National Park. Because of the distant location, the guests of Luna Lodge are surrounded by mostly untouched rainforest and in the Corcovado National Park they might even see rare and exotic animal species living freely.
To get here, you can take a domestic flight from San José into the town of Puerto Jimenez. Pick up a rental car or private taxi and drive down the coast and through the rainforest until the road ends. Then, when you think you can’t drive any further. Drive up a deep river gorge with multiple water crossings, up the hill to this fantastic natural paradise. Or you can also take an 8-minute charter flight across the Peninsula to Carate. They will pick you up. We’re sure that you’ll agree that it is worth every bit of the effort to get here!
There is an organic garden on site where chefs can select their vegetables and herbs. All for the creative menu served daily at the lodge. The main lodge’s made from sustainable materials and features natural woodwork and a high vaulted ceiling that creates a relaxing atmosphere in a peaceful tropical setting. There is a spacious deck ideal for taking in the sounds and energy of the rainforest. The main lodge also houses the main restaurant, reception, kitchen and gift shop. A natural rock pool rests in a beautiful tropical garden just off the main rancho. At Luna Lodge Carate you’ll find eight bungalows, three hacienda rooms and five tents nestled in pristine mountain forest offering fantastic views of the ocean below.
Luna Lodge Carate was built-in absolute harmony with nature and is one of the few lodges to have earned the highest level of sustainability, CST 5-Leaves, from Costa Rica’s Tourism Board. The lodge operates on 100% hydroelectric and solar power, and the lodge has a strong commitment to supporting the surrounding communities. Of the hotel’s 60 acres, over half of them are a primary virgin rainforest.
All in all, Luna Lodge Carate is the place for Yoga or other retreats and has been featured several times in the Yoga Journal, Travel & Leisure & Conde Nast Traveller. The spectacular deck and yoga platform hangs majestically over the hillside. It provides a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean and surrounding rainforest. Luna Lodge Carate also can accommodate up to 32 people in double occupancy rooms. Making it a superb facility for an organized retreat.
