The Palo Verde Biological Station located in the Palo Verde National Park in Guanacaste. The park consists of 20,000 hectares of dry forest and wetland vegetation at the Tempisque River, which discovered by the visitors. It is considered one of Central America’s vital sanctuaries for migrating and resident species of waterfowl. Close to the station, there are the marshes, an important area for many bird species. Species like herons, egrets, storks, grebes, ducks, ibis, jacanas and many others observed there.
On guided walks, visitors can learn about the different ecosystems that can be found here but also get to know about research, education and conservation programs conducted by the Organization for Tropical Studies (OTS). On the two-hour walk, visitors will go to the dry forests, the limestone cliffs, and the marsh. There are also full day explorations available. Another great activity is a boat tour on the Tempisque River where you can see mangroves. You can watch many different species that live in this habitat. The station also offers four different trails for guests who like to go hiking.
Next, to this tour also offered many more activities such as photography workshops, educational trips, customized trips and short-term projects. The accommodations provided by the Palo Verde Biological Station are cabins featuring bunk beds, private bathrooms, and a fan. The meals are taking place at set times together with all guests.
