Wildlife Refuge
Over 600 hectares of tropical rainforest make up Tirimbina Rainforest Center; in 2001 they declared it a wildlife refuge. Tirimbina Lodge has a wonderful jungle atmosphere that puts you right in the heart of nature. During your stay, you will be able to a variety of wildlife, especially birds, and have the opportunity to explore Costa Rica’s beautiful nature. After your visit, you will feel relaxed and have an all-over tranquility from nature. Tirimbina Lodge is located right next to the Sarapiqui River and offers various accommodations. The lodge has deluxe rooms, standard rooms, and student quarters where groups can stay. The rooms are simple but very comfortable and have incredible views of the tropical gardens and lush rainforest trees. The rooms also come with Wi-Fi, AC, and a private bath with hot water.
9km of Walking Trails
Tirimbina Lodge offers guest over 9 kilometers of trails that wind through the refuge, giving you the chance to see and explore the beauty of Sarapiqui. There is even a trail that is handicap accessible. While on the trails you can see a variety of plants and wildlife and different habitats. There are old cacao plantations, secondary forests, wetlands, rivers, and primary forest. Wildlife that you might see includes birds, sloths, and many reptiles and amphibians, like frogs. On the trails, there are also two bridges. The first one is 262 meters long with an average height of 22 meters. This bridge crosses over the Sarapiqui River and goes on an island. The Sarapiqui River forms this Island, and on it, there are more trails for you to explore. The other bridge is a canopy bridge that is 10 meters long and an average height of 35 meters.
