Costa Rican Rivers thrive throughout the whole country. Some are the basis for cities and small town and others provided need life to the environment. The types of rivers are kind of interesting too. There are raging rapids and peaceful canals. Also, rivers that are almost a 100 meters wide and 100 kilometers long. It doesn’t stop there as the types of wildlife you find at the river’s banks thrive in the natural environment. Sierpre River is a great place to visit if you want to see wildlife. 

Famous Rivers

One of the most famous Costa Rican Rivers is the Pacuare River. It is so famous because of the activities is done on it. This river is the rate in the top five white water rafting locations in the world. And how true it is. During the wet season, waters rise to give you the ultimate experience. Another popular river system is the Tortuguero canals. This extensive system of canals and rivers are located in the north most of Costa Rica’s Caribbean.

These attractions are an amazing part of Costa Rica.

Other Rivers in Costa Rica

Costa Rica has many rivers and we most certainly haven’t kept track of them all. But here are a few of the other river in Costa Rica

Sarapiqui River

Sarapiqui River

The Sarapiqui River extends some 50 miles from start to finish. It flows from the San Juan River in Nicaragua. The Sarapiqui, for the most part, is densely forested with jungle and rainforest. Also along side the banks of this river you will see a lot of different wildlife species. For example Monkeys, Sloths, Crocodiles, Toucans and so much more. 

Tenorio River

The Tenorio River in Costa Rica rises towards the Tenorio Volcano. This means along this river you will have amazing volcano views. Many parts of the Tenorio River are fast moving and contain a lot of rapids. 

Balsa River

The Balsa River is located near the famed Arenal Volcano, so coming here to see the river isn’t the only thing you will want to explore. You can have an amazing tour up the Balsa River with a rafting expedition.  It has class II and class III rapids. 

Rio Toro Amarillo

The Rio Toro also known as the bull river is stunning to experience. As the name says it isn’t a little stream but almost like riding a bull. The Rapids range from class II all the way up to class IV so you’re sure to love a whitewater rafting tour through this one. 

Corobici River

The Corobici River is also close to the Volcano Tenorio near the mountains of Guanacaste. It stems from the  Tempisque River and then flows towards the Tenorio River.
